A beautiful story, so well conceived and so well executed. I’m glad I didn’t read it in its original form, because the way it ends now is just so fitting, so natural. I didn’t plan on finishing the story tonight, but when that menacing shape came down the road I had to keep reading all the way to the end. You are a fine writer, and a fine story-teller in the old tradition of the family elders in the Irish and Scots tradition entertaining the children before sending them scurrying off to jump into bed and pull the bedclothes over their heads so the evil ones couldn’t find them.
